Idaho 1 of 3 Petition: Make Animal Abuse a Felony!!

Idaho 1 of 3

Have you heard about the “1 of 3” petition that’s going around? The “1 of 3” means that Idaho is   1 of only 3 states (North Dakota and South Dakota being the other two) without felony animal   cruelty laws for extreme or repeat offenses. Cruelty, torture and starvation are currently just   misdemeanors (slaps on the wrist), along with a small financial fine.

Did you know that for the past five years, the Animal Legal Defense Fund has ranked Idaho one   of the “five best states to be an animal abuser?” We can change that! We are in the process of   getting 60,000 registered voters to sign a petition that makes these shameful acts a FELONY   (jail/prison) along with a LARGE financial fine. Under the initiative, a person’s third animal   cruelty conviction would be a felony punishable by six months to three years in prison and a   fine up to $9,000. Animal torture would be defined and fines would increase to $400 for first   offense (from $100) and $600 for a second offense (from $200).

If you are a registered voter in Idaho, won’t you please sign this petition so it can be brought to   the voters of Idaho? We need to change the law to protect these helpless animals who don't   deserve such abuse! If you’d like more information, please call us at 208-687-5054.

Thanksgiving for the Animals

SuperOne Thanksgiving  SuperOne For the Animals  Steins Thanksgiving for Animals

On behalf of Concerned People for Animals (CPA) thank you to everyone who participated in our first "Thanksgiving For The Animals" event held in November at Super One and Stein's Family Harvest both located in Rathdrum.

Thank you to everyone who purchased cat and/or dog food at these stores to help feed hungry animals in our community! You helped the CPA Food Bank located within the Rathdrum Food Bank raise over 1400 pounds of pet food!!!!! This food will go directly to pet owners who are having a difficult time financially feeding their pets.

HUGE thanks to Jerry Schrock, manager at Super One as well as Jim Stein from Stein's Family Harvest for allowing us into their stores and for their hard work in supporting our event and our community. Another thank you SO much to Chuck and Carol Kinsey from CPA for all their time and energy in planning the event, making signs, and transporting the pet food to the food bank.

And never to be forgotten, Tom Burnett from The Star newspaper for the incredible help in informing our community of our event and always being supportive to Concerned People for Animals.

Happy holidays to All!
